Abstract The blueberry industry is one of the successful and expanding agricultural cropping systems in South Africa. As a result this growth, research into identifying plant disease agents has become increasingly important, yet there are relatively few scientific reports published on subject country. aim study was to identify causal stunting leaf scorch plants evaluate their pathogenicity. Root samples were collected from commercial southern highbush planting North West, resulting isolates identified based sequence data rDNA‐ITS. Three Pythiaceae including Globisporangium ultimum var. sporangiiferum , splendens Pythium aphanidermatum . Results pathogenicity trials showed that isolated species able cause 40% plants.
